Hannah Barclay

Person-centred Psychotherapist

My therapy practice centres around a belief in the transformative potential of experiencing connection and understanding with self and other. I believe one of the ways this can be achieved is through building an authentic professional therapeutic relationship based on qualities such as trust, acceptance and understanding.

Collaborative, Authentic Relationship

I prioritise the importance of working collaboratively at your pace and by your direction. My practice is informed by my person-centred and experiential training and by my interest in working with the body, neuroscience, and through creative expression.

I believe we know ourselves and our needs best and that through journeying to reflect on our experiences (past or present) and the many facets of ourselves, we can gain more autonomy in living our lives. I am here to support you to discover, understand, and connect with your authentic self.

I believe the quality of the therapeutic relationship is central to potential for therapeutic growth. Therefore, it’s important that you feel comfortable with me, my way of working and values. In the first session, we should get a sense of this and if there seems to be an alignment, we can begin to explore your hopes for therapy.

My practice acknowledges a holistic view of external factors impacting an individual’s experience, such as oppression through social injustice.

Prior to psychotherapy I worked in the community for charities holistically supporting vulnerable adults (18+), gaining an understanding of the challenges of navigating services within the NHS and Social services.

My own self care is hugely important to the quality of my practice. This means engaging with my own interests such as being in and exercising in nature, yoga, writing, drawing, dance/movement and singing.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I pay for my sessions?

You should pay ahead of every session.

Is everything in therapy confidential?

Yes, confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy. What you share in therapy is kept private, with some exceptions, such as if there’s a risk of harm to yourself or others.

What can I expect from my consultation call?

Your consultation call is an opportunity to get to know your chosen therapist and see if they feel like the right fit for you. During the call, you can share what’s bringing you to therapy, ask any questions you might have, and learn more about the therapist’s approach. It’s a relaxed, no-pressure conversation designed to help you feel comfortable and informed before deciding to move forward.
